Throwback Thursday: Early 2000s Great Hits

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Hello collegiettes™!

The fact that the year 2000 was over a decade ago makes me just pinch myself sometimes. It is crazy to think that the teenagers today were just babies when songs I love were released. I still remember the lyrics, of course,

The early 2000s honestly felt a bit out of place. There wasn’t anything super new in terms of fashion or music because a lot of it came from the 90s. But still, the early 2000s were awesome years. I definitely think some big television company should already have made a cool documentary of the 2000s like there are documentaries out there for the 90s and 80s.

With Britney Spears still as the queen of pop, the music was far from boring! So to give the early 2000s some proper recognition, here’s some of the hits from 2000 to 2010:

2000: ‘N Sync – Bye Bye Bye

2001: Britney Spears – I’m a Slave 4 U

2002: Kelly Clarkson – Miss Independent

2003: Evanescence – Bring Me to Life

2004: Hilary Duff – Fly

2005: Avril Lavigne – Fall to Pieces

2006: Vanessa Hudgens – Come Back to Me

2007: Akon – Don’t Matter

2008: Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks – No Air

2009: Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat – Lucky

2010: Shakira – Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)
