The wonderful, and maybe horrible, thing about makeup is that there seems to be an almost endless amount of products to buy. There are so many brands and even the same kind of product can have a completely different kind of formula. I love building my collection, but I don’t like going into Mac or Sephora not knowing how I’m going to feel about a product`    . So what’s a girl to do?

Why, join a subscription service of course! Subscription boxes can range in theme from makeup to facial care to lingerie to healthy snack foods. Even just in the category of makeup, there are various choices like Beauty Box 5, Glossybox, Ipsy and more. The awesome thing, however, is that these services offer you the chance to try out products without paying more than the monthly fee for the box itself. On top of that, a lot of the time, the value of the box exceeds the price you pay monthly. Even more amazing, the boxes often have full sized products mixed with samples. You’re often able to customize the types of items you receive by taking a quiz before you subscribe, so you don’t have to worry about getting a sample BB cream that is the wrong shade. Prices for the boxes range from $12 to  $50 a month and most services allow you to choose monthly or longer subscriptions.  Along with the awesome products contained in the monthly boxes, the services that offer online shops often let members get a discount on individual products.

Not sure which box to choose? There’s a site for that! My subscription addiction has almost all of the subscription boxes offered broken down into categories such as beauty, food, and even pets and allows people who have subscribed to rate and walk people who might be considering subscribing through the individual monthly boxes. It’s a great resource for a makeup lover who might feel a little overwhelmed when looking into all the of the boxes offered around the internet. You are able to see multiple reviews all in one place and photographs of the items contained in past boxes. Check it out and see what the world of beauty subscription boxes has to offer. However, in addition to My Subscription Addiction, there are tons of unboxing videos on Youtube. You can see swatches of the samples and products and it’s a great way to discover new boxes and what boxes might be best for you as you are able to find people who are similar to you in style or skin type. After all, what works for a girl with dry skin is probably not going to work for a girl with oily skin. Besides, it’s always fun to see what people get in their monthly boxes and it really makes you want to get your own.

Often times, the services will offer first time subscribers discounts to try their box out for a month. You can try the Julep Maven box, which contains full sized nail polishes and nail supplies, for free (just pay shipping) by using the code FREECOLOR.
