Spirit Saturday: DIY Mason Jar Spirit Mug

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

It’s always fun to show off some USF spirit in an unconventional way, like in your kitchen!  A little touch of USF spirit on your mugs adds just a touch of Bull Pride to your life in a subtle and fun way! Projects like this always mean more if they’re handmade, so delve into your crafting box and start searching Pinterest for ideas. This was mine:

What you’ll need:

– Paint (I bought mine at Jo-Anns, just make sure it can be used on glass)

– Paintbrushes

– Mason Jar Mug (Available at the dollar store)

– USF Pride and Creativity

Now you have to think of a design. Pinterest is great for this, but unfortunately USF doesn’t have the largest presence on Pinterest. But don’t stress! Look at other DIY mugs to get inspired as a way to adapt them to represent bull nation.

Instead of an Alabama “A,” replace it with a green USF “U” and change out the red lines for gold. Write “Go Bulls” on one side and “USF” on the other. This is just one of many ways you can adapt other school ideas to show some Bull Nation pride.

It’s also possible to take some other subtle Bull pride mugs. Using painters tape is a simple, but effective way to make a chevron mug. Or decorate the mason jar mug with varying sizes green and gold circles. These cute mason jars can be filled with goodies, like chocolate or cookies, for a cute USF inspired gift that’s both adorable and useful.  With any level of artistic skill, a sentimental and Bull Pride DIY mug can be made! See how mine turned out below.

And once you’re done with the mason jars and paint, break out the mugs and sharpies to try some DIY Sharpie mugs.
