Product Review: Wet n Wild Mega Last Nail Polish

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

If you’re like me, you are constantly looking for new nail colors to add to your collection. Ice cream, glitzy and bold shades — I’m always constantly adding something new to my collection. Despite having polishes stocked in my house ready for the apocalypse (you never know), I don’t necessarily commit to a certain brand of nail polish. At least, I didn’t until a couple of weeks ago. As a gift, I was given a few Wet n Wild Megalast nail polishes to try out. I have bought Wet n Wild nail polish in the past but the packaging was so different from the one I was given recently. I loved the Wet n Wild Megalast brand so much, that I decided I would take a stab at reviewing the product. So here it is!

Packaging:
I loved the upgrade Wet n Wild gave the nail polish bottles. It was actually pretty cute and each bottle had a unique name that went with the color of the nail polish. Cute names like “I Need a Refresh-Mint” and “Break the Ice”. Totally in love with them all!

Brush:
As for the brushes, they were pretty cool. They kind of remind me of a more expensive brand of nail polish that I’ve seen before. The brush makes sure you don’t miss a single spot on your nail — all it took was one coat to cover the entire nail. I loved this because most other nail brushes have required me to fill in small spaces that were missed by the brush.

Color:
The ones that I was able to try out were “Disturbia/Audace,” “Candy-Licious/Rose Bonbon” and “I Red a Good Book/Balloon Rouge.” The “Disturbia” color was my all-time favorite. It went on easy and I really didn’t need much of a second coat because the color showed up the way it was supposed to without any additional layers. The “Candy-Licious” color was also just as impressive. It showed up as a cute, fun pink and didn’t require more than two layers for it to pop on my nails. As for the “I Red a Good Book color,” I was in love with it. It wasn’t too dark or too bright—it was just right.

Lasting Power:
After painting my nails, it took a good week for it to start chipping. That wasn’t so bad since I used my hands a lot during that week — washing dishes and some yard work. So, I assume if you aren’t constantly out working with your hands, the polish would last longer.

Overall:

I think many will agree that this is a great product and despite being only $1.99, it really does deliver like most high priced nail polishes. For only $1.99 you definitely can’t go wrong. The only downside I would say is it delivers some shine, but not as much as I wanted. So, I would recommend adding a coat of a clear shine topcoat, if that’s what you’re looking for. I give this product an A-.
