I hope everyone had a great winter break and has been having a great start to their semester. This is my last semester in undergraduate before I move on to law school and I just wanted to share part of my journey with everyone! These are some things that I’ve been doing to prepare to move to a new state and go to law school, while making the most of the time I have left in undergraduate.

Firstly, I just wanted to preface this by saying this is my advice and is completely catered to my journey. Everyone’s path is different and completely valid, do not use this as a means for comparison rather than just another tool to possibly guide you.

  1. Don’t leave academics behind

Senioritis might kick in, but don’t forget to incentivize yourself to get work done. You might have to get creative to make sure that the work is getting done but––especially in your last semester–ensuring every assignment is done to the best of your ability is crucial. You may have already gotten into grad school or another post graduate program, but showcasing to these schools or institutions that you are still academically oriented is important.

  1. Make the most of your time with friends!

Everyone is going to miss you when you graduate and although academics are valuable, memories with your undergrad friends are priceless. Make those memories, have movie nights, take lots of photos, and make the most of it. It has been really hard mentally, knowing that I am going to leave so many of these people behind when I graduate, but spending quality time or making a bucket list with them has really helped. It may be hard to balance interpersonal relationships with responsibilities, but prioritizing friendship is something that you could never regret in the grand scheme of life.

  1. Focus on self care

This one has been pretty big for me considering I  buried my head in the sand and chugged along three years of undergrad. I focused on working hard, doing what I needed to in order to graduate early, and worked full time. Yet, from all of that hectic energy, I learned my boundaries and what is good for me in the long run. If I don’t practice boundaries, self reflection, and quite frankly sitting alone with my thoughts, all while in undergrad, how will I transfer these skills to the real world? Knowing who you are as a person helps a lot with transitional phases in life and allows you to have solace knowing that you will be ok in this new space of life.

Overall, to my graduating seniors this semester, take care of yourself and know you are loved and cared for. Hope everyone’s semester (whether it be your last in undergrad or not) goes amazingly and I can’t wait to see what it has in store for us all!
