In the past year or so, Sia has really turned some heads. She has been around for quite some time, but only recently made it to the top hits. She is a talented individual and artist. I remember in middle school jammin’ out to “Breathe me”! Although her style of music has changed, she is still powerful in each of her songs.

Her recent music videos have been the main topic on social media. The first big video was “Chandelier”, where a young dancer from Dance Moms is dancing alone like no one is watching. Maddie Zeigler did such a great job that people talked about it for months. The video was also was nominated for a Grammy. Yes Sia! Although not everyone can appreciate the art form of dance in this particular video, it is still beautiful and her interpretation of the song is different. When it comes to the media nowadays, different is definitely good.

Young Maddie did such an incredible job that Sia asked her to do another video. “Elastic Heart” is being considered a controversial video. This is because Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Zeigler star in the video both half dressed. Sia came out and apologized for the way people felt about the video. Her only intent was to create a emotional content and nothing inappropriate. It is very clear that Sia is a strong and powerful artist with great ideas. According to People.com, “the art which she puts forth always has a deeper meaning. Skin doesn’t always = Sex. Touching doesn’t always = Lust. Dancing doesn’t always indicate something carnal.” I completely agree with this statement. Take a look at the video and see for yourself if this controversy is something to worry about.

Maddie and her mother spent time with Shia LeBeouf before the video and got to know each other. She enjoyed getting to work on this project with a famous actor and there are no signs that she felt in anyway disrespected. As long as both parties feel the video fulfills its purpose, maybe this controversy will turn out to be resolved.
