Mary Badonsky: Meet A Her Campus Member

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Mary Rose Badonsky is a junior, journalism major, at the University of South Florida – loaded with ambition and style. Although born in June, Badonsky lives for the winter. In fact, Badonsky confesses to having spent too much money on fur coats (and just purchased another within the past month). When asked what her most prized possession in her closet is, she replied, “Any of my motorcycle leather jackets.”

While a huge fan of fall fashion and pumpkin lattés, Badonsky accurately fits her role as a Gemini. According to Twittascope, Gemini, the easygoing sign of the Twins, “Lives for variety, the true spice of life. They are versatile creatures that represent duality and acceptance above all else.” Badonsky spiced up her life by coming here to Tampa from Conyers, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. Fun Fact: Dakota Fanning is from Conyers, too! Badonsky left her close family, and two adorable Yorkies, Romeo and Lucy, for Tampa because she has a love for new cities, atmosphere and environments. “I’ll eventually go city to city until I reach New York City,” says Badonsky. NYU is the game plan for grad school.

Badonsky’s “heaven” is Jeffrey Campbells. She is always on the hunt for a new pair of Lita’s to add to her collection. Her “hell” would be – Mean Girls pun semi-intended, army pants and flip-flops. (Even if Regina George is seen wearing them . . .) Here in Tampa, Badonsky’s go-to-get-ready jam is “All You” by The Cataracs. If she’s not loaded with a busy day of class or work, she enjoys taking the day to relax and pamper in true girl fashion. The ideal pamper for Badonsky is a new set of fierce red nails.

Anything is complete for Badonsky with some studs. Check out her closet and you will see studded shorts, flats, jackets and heels (btw, she can walk the walk in a pair of heels in any setting). Badonsky has looked into studding her own apparel, which can be quite the task.

On the note of fashion, one of the best shops she had to leave behind in Georgia is “Little Five Points.” Badonsky claims it is basically a bohemian boutique of anything you could want. Whenever she comes back from home with outfits straight out of Vogue, her friends don’t even need to ask where they are from. Here in Tampa, Badonsky can spend the whole day at International Mall or at the 600 block in St. Petersburg.

To make a day ideal, Badonsky can always go for a good slice of pizza. Chips and crackers are another guilty pleasure; “I’m really bad with chips. I can say no to cookies, but yes to chips!” claims Badonsky.

So be on the lookout for Badonsky on campus – sporting big sunglasses, a romper and studded flats on a hot day, but a leather jacket/tights combo now that the weather has cooled down.

On a final note, being a journalism major, Badonsky’s biggest pet peeve is when people can’t spell. Don’t be alarmed if Badonsky serves as a grammar police – writing you a ticket against your vs. you’re!
