This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

This week’s campus celeb (and cutie, but who asked me) is none other than Nekesha Nash. “Kesha” as she is known, can be seen running to and fro between the Center for Student Involvement and the Office of Multicultural Affairs for which she has and continues to volunteer and support. Just last week she worked tirelessly to complete the post-planning for a successful Round UP, a yearly tradition at USF consisting of thousands of students and featured comedians. Shortly thereafter, she planned and executed a successful Bulls Night Out featuring another up-and-coming comedian. This Her Campus writer has had the pleasure working alongside her in several involvement endeavors and it was my pleasure to sit down with her for this delightful and interesting interview.

Her Campus: What is your major?

Kesha Nash: Behavior Health Sciences with a Minor in Applied Behavior Analysis.

HC: I can’t even begin to guess what that means!

KN: [laughs] Most people don’t! It’s the modification of behavior. Sometimes in patients with autism, or in my case, what I want to do is profile and treat criminals.

HC: What year are you?

KN: I’m a senior!

HC: Hometown?

KN: Fort Meyers, FL.

HC: Random Fact?

KN: I am in fact left-handed!

HC: Where do you see yourself in five years?

KN: I see myself as a devoted workaholic. Not settled down or starting a family, like many women. I can see myself being career-oriented and gettin’ paper! [laughs]”

HC: What are your hobbies, if you have any?

KN: I play the piano and sing. I am very musical.

HC: What is your favorite quote?

KN: It’s by Althea Gibson. It’s “I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it’s half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way, and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.”

HC: What are you involved in?

KN: I am the first Vice President for on organization on campus called the National Council for Negro Women, I work closely with the Center for Student Involvement, and I volunteer regularly with the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch.

HC: Why are you so involved?

KN: I like to keep busy; I’m a busy-body! I can’t be idle. If I’m not helping on campus or with NCNW, I’m at work.

HC: How do you stay organized with all that you do?

KN: I keep a detailed schedule of meetings and events in my phone. I try to make time for everyone!

HC: What are you afraid of?

KN: I am scared of the dark. I could never sleep in a completely dark room. Also, I can’t watch scary movies! I know that sounds corny.

HC: What is your favorite thing about USF?

KN: The pride. People at USF genuinely LOVE USF. They have real pride!

HC: What should readers know about you?

KN: I am nowhere near perfect, I’m just trying. I’ve come so far and I am working every day at it. I’m just gonna keep going!

HC: Thank you so much for your time and good luck with all your endeavors.

KN: Thank you for thinking of me. It’s been my pleasure.

That was just a portion of an enlightening and genuinely funny conversation with this on-campus leader and celebrity.
