Kali Uchis has taken the music world by storm, after her debut album Isolation. The Colombian singer has been redefining pop music for herself, adding elements of pop, funk and reggaeton to create her sound.

Having been in the music scene for years, Kali Uchis has been recently getting the attention of more people and collaborations with artists like Gorillaz and more famously rapper Tyler, The Creator on “See You Again.” Beginning the year as an opening act for Lana Del Rey’s tour, Kali has proven she is here to stay as she took the stage at Coachella in April and is now headlining her own North American tour.

The In Your Dreams Tour made a stop in Orlando, along with Chicano indie artist, Cuco, one of Kali’s opening acts. Cuco put on a great show, going from rapping, performing on the trumpet, and having the crowd singing in Spanish to ballads like “Amor De Siempre.” The enlisting of Cuco, not only demonstrates the diversity across the indie genre, but also shows us more Latinx artists in a platform and the role representation plays.

Kali left the audience both mesmerized and voiceless after screaming lyrics and begging for encores. The singer opened with “Dead to Me” a single off her album and went on to perform the majority of Isolation and various songs from her past EP, Por Vida.

A creative in the purest forms, Uchis demanded all the attention from the crowd with her dancing, visuals, and voice while letting us have a peek into what the meaning behind Isolation really is.

Highlights of the night included “After The Storm” and “Tyrant,” as Uchis had the venue singing the songs word by word along with her.
