How to: Get Organized

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

College is stressful enough without the added challenge of having to live in a disorganized space. Here are some awesome tips on how to keep your life organized and eliminate stress.

1.      Go Through Your E-mails:

If you are anything like me, you receive countless emails in the day. Do not just let them sit. Go through your emails, delete the junk mail, and read the important ones.

2.      Make a List:

Keep track of assignments and meetings by creating a to-do list. I recommend creating a system so you know which things are not so important, important, and very important.

3.     Reward Yourself:

After completing the things on your to-do list, it is time that you do something nice for yourself. Whether that means another episode of your favorite show or grabbing some ice cream, is totally up to you.

4.      Use Your Planner:

A lot of people own planners. Less actually write their plans and important dates inside of them. Even less people actually use their planner. Planners are highly effective and highly beneficial when it comes to staying organized (as long as you use it). Here’s a really cute Lilly Pulitzer planner on amazon.

5.      Put Things Back:

When you take an item out of its original place, try to remember to put it back. That means clothes, books, and all kinds of school supplies. This will help to keep your room constantly tidy.

6.      Create Planning Time:

Set time aside each day to go through your planner and to-do lists. Cross out the things you accomplished and circle the things you have yet to do. Setting aside this time will always keep you on top of things.

7.      Sleep:

It is so important for you to get enough sleep every night. Staying up all night to get work done does nothing for your health and leaves you feeling tired and groggy in the morning.
