Happy Memorial Day, collegiettes™!

This United States holiday is for remembering all of the men and women who have died while serving in armed forces. Many people may confuse today with Veterans Day, a celebration of all U.S. military veterans.

For Memorial Day, many people visit cemeteries and memorials to honor the dead. In addition, volunteers place American flags on graves in national cemeteries all over the country. The University of South Florida is closed today too.

Not sure how to spend the day? There are plenty of fun activities to do!

1. Memorial Day means sales at the mall. Spend your day shopping with friends and take advantage of the many deals in popular stores.

 

 

2. Another great thing to do on Memorial Day is head to the beach. The Florida weather this week is beautiful and warm. Once you’ve got the perfect swimsuit, soak up the sun on the beach.

 

 

3. Have a barbecue! Head to your local grocery store and pick up the necessary supplies for a nice cookout. Grill some delicious hamburgers and hotdogs for a fun gathering outside.

 

 

No matter how you spend the day, make sure you take a moment to honor all of the brave men and women who have fought and lost their lives for our country.
