Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Grab some friends and head off to the movie theater! Great movies are constantly coming out almost every weekend so there is always something to see. Here are just a few film choices that are playing in theaters near you!

Gravity

Gravity is a science fiction, drama and suspense movie rated PG-13. Featuring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the movie is about NASA medical engineer, Ryan Stone (Bullock) on her first shuttle mission to space with veteran astronaut, Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). Disaster occurs during a spacewalk and the shuttle is destroyed. With no communication between them and Earth, the two are left out in space with no way home. How will they survive?

Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the intense sci-fi thriller was a big hit in theaters. Fans and critics both agreed that it is worth going to see. This movie is action-packed, with great actors and an incredible story so if you’re looking for a little sci-fi suspense go see Gravity. It is also being shown in 3D so take your pick!

Prisoners

Prisoners is another option at the theater this weekend. Rated R as a crime, drama and thriller movie, it will surely have you on the edge of your seat. Fans and critics agree it is a must-see movie! This film was directed by Denis Villeneuve and the cast features actors such as Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davia, Terrence Howard and more.

Prisoners tells the story of a child abduction. The six-year-old daughter of Keller Dover (Jackman) and her friend go missing one day, putting two families into a panic. The police immediately begin to investigate, but there’s only so much Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal) can do. A mysterious RV is spotted in the neighborhood, and the driver is arrested. But with little evidence against him, he is released. As more days pass by without finding the girls, it becomes understood that the children’s lives are really at risk here. How far will a father go to find his daughter?

Don Jon

Don Jon is a comedy and drama rated R movie. Actors include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johnansson, Julianna Moore, and Tony Danza. This is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directional debut! With mixed reviews from fans and critics, you’ll have to decide for yourself if your love for him will outshine the controversial topic this movie focuses on.

Don Jon is about a normal New Jersey guy who is unsatisfied with real life due to the unrealistic expectations of the sexually explicit material he watches on his computer. He searches for sexual gratification, but instead learns an even more valuable lesson about life and love. The Her Campus national chapter had the chance to interview Joseph Gordon-Levitt about the movie so check it out here!

Baggage Claim

A comedy movie rated PG-13, Baggage Claim is about an unmarried women on a journey to find a guy to marry before her younger sister’s wedding. Baggage Claim was directed by David E. Talbert and actors in the film include Paula Patton, Taye Diggs, Trey Songz, Jill Scott and more. Montana Moore (Paula Patton) is a flight attendant who only has 30 days to find a husband. With her airline job, she decided to “accidentally” run into ex-boyfriends on flights to see if they have the potential to marry her.

This movie had mixed reviews, but if you’re looking for some light comedy, it will be your go-to movie. The actors all do their job well, and if you want to see some eye candy then this is the movie for you! The story is funny and relevant to both men and women today.
