Getting into the Halloween Spirit When it is 90 Degrees Outside

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Living in Florida means having access to beaches year round, and not having to buy an entirely new wardrobe for winter, or being able to enjoy snow on vacation, and still come home to beautiful warm weather. If you are from somewhere other than Florida, you realize quickly that it is hard to get into the holiday spirit when it is perpetually hot outside.

Here are four ways to look past your closet full of tank tops and get in the Halloween spirit:

Buy Fall Décor

Fall decor can be anything from pumpkin paper plates to cozy smelling candles. Nothing will make you feel more ready for the spooky season than coming home to an Autumn escape. In addition to store bought decorations, there are plenty of DIY fall décor ideas on Pinterest. A night of wine, scary movies, and Halloween crafts with your closest friends is all you need to get in the Halloween spirit!

Halloween Movie Nights

A spooky movie marathon is always a great idea in October. Whether you enjoy a light Halloween tale, like Hocus Pocus, or something more sinister, like The Conjuring, there is something for everyone in this genre. For movie ideas, Netflix and Hulu are each offering their own sections of Halloween films right now to binge from.

Bake Halloween Treats

If you like baking, then you will love the Halloween recipes circulating right now. There is candy corn ice cream for a sweet and light treat, or cobweb brownies for a more decadent dessert. There are plenty of options to meet all dietary restrictions and stay in the Halloween spirit. Check out my favorite recipes here: https://www.delish.com/holiday-recipes/halloween/g151/halloween-desserts/

Go to Halloween Themed Events

Another perk of living in Tampa is how many activities are going on within 30 minutes of USF campus. Check out the local pumpkin patches, Busch Garden’s Howl-O-Scream or Scream-A-Geddon on participating nights through October.
