Adulthood is a stage in our lives that is inevitable. Whether we like it or not, it’s happening. At first, it was something that we’d been looking forward to since we were children. Yet, we didn’t know the things that adulthood had in store for us until we reached that stage. We truly weren’t prepared for the bills, responsibilities, and unexpected moments that adulthood brings. All of this might be a roller coaster, and we wouldn’t have known that this could affect our mental health.

Our mental health is the most critical aspect of being an adult. Trying to face responsibilities while keeping our happiness and peace. Not looking at everyone else at how they got to where they are and trying not to rush the process. Containing our mental health is a part of adulthood.

I don’t know who I’m talking to, but I know one thing. Being an adult is not what it’s cracked up to be. It can affect our state of mind and our mentality on how life treats us. We might fall. We might break. We might cry. We might be disappointed. We might be rejected. But I think about how every up and down in my life plays a role in my future self. Each moment contains a breakthrough in adulthood.

We might be confused about why it’s happening to us. Yet, when the world tries to break us down, we are strong enough to understand why it happens. We are powerful enough to face the world through trials and tribulations. So, adulthood, you might be our least favorite, but we see why you come: To teach us to grow.

Being an adult, remember these things:

  • It’s okay not to be okay
  • Adulthood is tough but you are tougher
  • If you need to talk to someone, reach out
  • You are loved
  • You are necessary
  • You are important
