The College Fashionista
Some say that style is inherent. If that’s true, Aisha Hatter is a head style guru metaphorically and literally. With her edgy but chic style, Hatter has an incredible eye for fashion and shows it well as she serves as a head style guru for CollegeFashionista.com.
The 21-year-old creative advertising major blogs and encapsulates the fashion scene at USF weekly with her ultimate accessory in tow, a dslr camera.
Last semester, Hatter blogged “Let’s hear it for the boys” detailing men’s fashion at USF. This semester, Hatter writes an “Accessories Report” about what people are wearing with their outfits on campus.
It’s evident that Hatter truly enjoys blogging as an outlet and hobby.
“I get to express myself,” Hatter said. “I like getting to know people and why they wear what they wear.”
Hatter’s curious nature definitely drives her intrigue when it comes to fashion blogging.
“I think it’s really interesting when you meet some who takes that extra the time to put a nice outfit together and be creative through what you wear,” Hatter said.
In the style guru world, fashion and style are definite art forms.
“I just think fashion is a cool way to express yourself,” said Hatter. “Style is like saying ‘hey world, this is me and I’m showing my personality through what I’m wearing’,” Hatter said.
So far, Hatter’s blog has seen much success. Recently, her blog had a feature article within the acclaimed Huffington Post about South Florida style at USF.
The fashionista also co-authors a more intimate blog with her beloved boyfriend. On Stellar Piece, Hatter documents mutual adventures with her significant other which range from food, travel and more.
When Hatter isn’t blogging, she’s interning. As an intern for USF College of Arts and Sciences, Hatter is part of the social media and design and photo team where she develops and assists in campaigns to promote the organization. Her most recent project is a Valentine’s Day campaign that entails why students love USF.
In conjunction with her busy life as a blogger and intern, Hatter also serves as a leader on campus. In class, Hatter is an account executive for her adverting team which she manages.
Undeniably, Hatter values her ongoing leadership and intern experience.
“I get to learn about how it is to work with a team,” Hatter said. “This is preparing me for whatever I decide to do whether it’s fashion or advertising.”
For 2014, Hatter has her eyes on graduating this May. After graduation, she desires to “intern somewhere cool this summer.” Hatter expresses a particular interest in New York.
When asked to offer advice for fellow college students, Hatter has one simple piece of advice that has benefited her greatly over the past year.
“Take pride in your work and let it speak for you.”
