Breast cancer is a disease that has affected countless women, their families, and their loved ones. As the daughter of a survivor, I think it’s so important to show support whenever and wherever possible. That can be in the form of a donation to fundraisers, showing up to different events, or even just spreading awareness. These 5 events and many more in the Tampa Bay area are definitely on my calendar to attend as many as I can. You can absolutely catch me decked out in pink, showing my support for a cause that continues to help millions. Check the events websites for more information on registration, activities, and more.

2025 Komen Tampa Bay MORE THAN PINK Walk

The Susan G. Komen organization is dedicated to raising funds for the long fight against breast cancer. In 1980, the founder of the organization started it in honor of her sister, who went through this disease like so many women. The MORE THAN PINK walk is the organization’s largest fundraising event every year, held in almost 50 locations throughout the US, and one of them is right here on the USF Tampa Campus! On Saturday, Oct. 18th, be prepared for a full morning of celebrating, starting at 7:30, followed by an opening ceremony with inspiring speakers and survivors of breast cancer. This is one uplifting event you won’t want to miss!

Keeping Her Flame Alive: BBQ Breast Cancer Fundraiser

Now, if walking isn’t your style but you love food, this BBQ fundraiser is the perfect place to be. Located at the Bar-B-Que King restaurant on W Main Street, Tampa, and in partnership with the Breast Cancer Foundation, this fundraiser is in honor of the former owner of the restaurant, Judy Candis, and all those who have fought their battle against breast cancer. This event will be held Saturday, Oct. 18th at noon and does include a ticket price for a special meal deal and raffle entry. Come support a community leader and the women in your life while enjoying some delicious food.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Walking with a bunch of women decked out in pink is always the way to go. Making Strides, hosted by the American Cancer Society, will be held Saturday, Oct. 25th over at the Raymond James Stadium. In the same place our USF football team has played and won is the perfect place to support women fighting their battles. The walk will start at 9 am, and alongside it will be multiple vendors, activities, and entertainment, all in support of the strong women who are facing the battle today and in honor of those who have fought it before.

Save the Tatas Walk

Save the Tatas is another annual walk, not only for raising awareness but specifically to raise funds for early diagnostic mammograms for minority women. This exciting event will be held Saturday, Oct. 25th, over at Rowlett Park, not too far for USF students. The gathering is free with fun activities and a chance to connect with other survivors, fighters, and supporters.

Fight Wright Foundation’s 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5K & Festival

This 5k breast cancer awareness walk/run is perfect for survivors and supporters who also want to get in the fall spirit. The festival will be hosted at Perry Harvey Sr. Park on Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 9 am. It will feature food trucks, a costume contest, and a pink pumpkin patch! Registration is free; the strength that someone gets from the support these events offer is priceless.
