The 2000s was an era of midriffs, mini skirts, and Jennifer Lopez’s iconic green Versace dress. Let’s not forget about the tiny handbags and velour jumpsuits that Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton basically invented either!

Just like how history repeats itself, so does fashion. From halter tops to low rise jeans and shoulder bags, fashion trends from the 2000s are making an unexpected comeback. It’s not a surprise that fashion designers are inspired by the past and love to recycle trends. Fashion is ever-changing, but so is society. The styles are starting to appear in celebrities’ wardrobes, such as Emma Chamberlain, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid. Retailers are now making it affordable and easier for shoppers to find clothes and accessories that make them look like they teleported right from the 2000s. If you want to jump on the ride from the past, here’s a guide for your fashion needs.

Low rise jeans

Jeans have transitioned every season from high-waisted to skinny, boyfriend to mom jeans to even the more recent bell-bottoms, Low-rise jeans were a hit in the 2000s. I mean, how else were people going to show off their midriffs and belly button rings? But now, people are enjoying the low rise fit to add another touch of boldness to their outfits. Lately, Bella Hadid has enjoyed this resurrected fashion trend.

Halter tops

Now you may be asking, “what can I pair with low-rise jeans?” Halter-tops. From award shows to clubs, halter-tops and low-rise jeans were the go-to outfit. There’s history behind the halter top, including the iconic halter neck white dress Marilyn Monroe wore while standing on a subway grate in 1955. This fashion moment led the way to today with the return of the halter top.

Trucker Hats

There’s no way we can talk about the 2000s without mentioning the Von Dutch trucker hat. From Justin Timberlake to Paris Hilton, you couldn’t find a celebrity without this staple. Trucker hats have been seen on celebrities recently, including Emma Chamberlain. Pair a trucker hat with a baby tee, low-rise jeans, and handbag, and be ready for people to ask if you’re related to Britany Spears!

Tracksuits

From music videos to being caught by paparazzi, celebrities were always rocking a Juicy Couture velour tracksuit. If you didn’t have one, you wish you did, and you wanted one in every color. Like a jumpsuit, this was an all-in-one outfit created to be flattering, chic, and comfy. Pair this tracksuit with a pair of sneakers or Uggs for extra comfort!

Colored sunglasses

Rain or shine, this accessory was worn consistently in the 2000s. These tinted lenses are making their way back into our hearts and adding a pop of color to streetwear. Switch it up even more by adding the rectangle shape glasses in different candy-colored shades.

Baguette shoulder bags

Speaking of accessories, thanks to Silvia Fendi, the baguette shoulder bag is now a staple in our wardrobe twenty years later. The baguette has had no trouble making a return thanks to the ‘it-girls’ including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid incorporating the tiny accessory. This bag goes with all ranges of looks, from fun and playful to classy and elegant.

The 2000s was an iconic era for fashion. We may have judged the fashion choices made during this decade, but they are making a strong comeback and don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon.
