However it’s not just passing through these places that make the holiday season so wonderful. It’s everything there is to do during the holidays.
Starting November 20: Alex and Ani City Center: Ice Skating (Providence)
Open every day 10:00 a.m. -10:00 p.m.
$4 admission, $6 skate rental
November 27: Newport Harbor Illuminated Boat Parade
Parade begins at 6:15 p.m., with boats decorated for the holidays, competing for the best decorations of various categories.
November 28: Sixth Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony & Community Open House (Westerly)
Carolers and Santa will be welcoming the holidays of Watch Hill at the Ocean House.
Time: 4:45 p.m. -5:45 p.m.
December 3-December 6: Wickford Village Festival of Lights
Stroll through Wickford and see the lights transform the city into a winter wonderland.

December 5: Bowen’s Wharf 45th Christmas Tree Lighting (Newport)
Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. Lighting begins at 6:00 p.m, followed by Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves arriving by boat to meet everyone.
December 6: Narragansett Festival of Lights & Annual Jingle Bell Run
Registration for 5K run or 1 Mile walk on the beach can be found on the Narragansett Chamber of Commerce Website.
Music, storytelling, horse drawn wagon rides, meet and greet with Santa, etc.
December 13-14: Geminid Meteor Shower (Charlestown)
Peak nights for the meteor shower can be seen at home, or at the Frosty Drew Observatory and Sky Theatre in Charlestown.
Telescopes open at 6:30 p.m.
December 18: 5th Annual Christmas WaterFire (Providence)
The Christmas WaterFire will feature a Santa’s Village display, toy drive, and performances by local choir groups.
All events will take place at the basin of Waterplace Park.
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
