Meet Samantha Tighe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

This Long Island native is not your average girl. Completing the five-year accounting program in four and landing the opportunity of a lifetime interning with one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms this summer, Sam is quite an inspiration. She is a Harry Potter enthusiast, Jonas Brothers fanatic, and will make you bow down to her on the dance floor. I am lucky enough to call this fabulous lady one of my dearest friends here at URI.

Name: Samantha Tighe

Hometown: Massapequa, NY

Major: Accounting

Age: 20

1.     If you could hand pick your dream dog, what would it be and what would you name it?

My dream dog is a white French bulldog named Pickles.

2.     What do you aspire to do after you graduate?

After I graduate I hope to pass my CPA exams and become a Certified Public Accountant.

3.     If you were stuck on an island with only one meal to bring what would it be?

Sesame jack chicken strips from Fridays no doubt.

4.     Who influences you the most?

My parents. My dad is the most hard-working man I know, he works like 14 hours every day so he can provide the best life for his family. My mom is my best friend and the kindest woman you will ever meet.

5.     What’s your favorite show on Netflix and why?

This is so hard. One Tree Hill has always been my favorite show on Netflix; I cried during every episode. BUT I’m currently on Season 6 of The Office and I think OTH might have a run for their money. I find myself laughing and smiling at my iPad in my bed every night (I love you Jim and Pam).

6.     What is something you really want to accomplish in your lifetime?

I’m a nerd but I’m graduating a year early and I hope to complete the 5-year accounting program in only 4 years.

7.     What’s your favorite thing to do at URI?

Definitely go to the beach. I’m from Long Island so being this close to the beach at school makes me feel at home.
