Early in the spring semester is hard enough with the lack of sunshine and cold weather that prevents you from being your full happy self. But just when you think you’ll make it out okay, boom – the end of February hates you and you wake up with a heavy head and inability to breathe. (If this sounds personal it is, as I’m currently typing with tissues stuck in my nose). For those of us who “never get sick” it seems like the end of the world but in a weird way, being productive while I’m sick helps me feel better. It just entails you becoming a different type of productive for a while.

Don’t completely stop what you’re doing when you feel sick, it will cause you to fall deeper in the winter rut. Continue studying, continue cleaning your room, everything will just need to be at a slower pace (plus more frequent breaks for eating and staying hydrated). It’s important during this time of year to stay up to date with everything and not easily fall behind despite feeling like the worst version of yourself to keep it blunt. No one can really afford completely sacrificing the time they have when they’re sick, humans are clearly built this way. However, health is your number one priority.

Nothing in the world matters unless you feel good.

Sometimes we push ourselves past the point that our bodies can handle which is why we may become sick in the first place. I know a slower paced lifestyle isn’t for everyone but it’s simply for the benefit of preventing becoming sick in the future. We tend to forget to thank our bodies for how much they do in a whole day and at the end of each, we all need to prepare it for the next day as much as possible. I know sleep is nonexistent for college students, but after going to bed earlier these past few nights, I have woken up earlier wanting to get work done before my classes even start. Although, this all depends on the severity of your stuffy nose and headache, just don’t stop doing what you’re doing because your healthy self will thank you in the long run.
