I was up late a few nights ago scrolling through twitter when I came across an “Uber Stories” twitter page. It was around 2 a.m. and I should have put my phone down but these Uber stories were so addicting to read because I couldn’t stop laughing. I even texted my friends to tell them I was thinking about Uber and how much it’s changed things. Not to mention i’ve always thought about the fact that we get into cars with total strangers and they drive us places. In my opinion, Uber was one of the best things invented since chocolate covered strawberries. After reading these experiences that have happened to students at URI it’s up to you to decide if you think Uber drivers are nothing more than creepy or if they are the true heroes of people who are in desperate need of getting from one place to another.

“I got an Uber ride from an undercover cop.”

“I had a bearded man who played Harry Potter movies and talked about children’s books that he writes. He showed everyone pictures of winged cats in Asia. He also wouldn’t stop talking about half man horses and unicorns. I was so ready to get out of the car.”

“My best friend was sad about her ex- boyfriend and he gave us a long speech to not give a you know what about guys. Thanks Uber man.”

“My friends and I had to squeeze about seven girls in the Uber. The lady was totally cool with it but she brought her 12 year-old daughter along with her. They were telling us exactly what to do if we get pulled over so we don’t get a ticket and she swore it ALWAYS worked. I was mostly confused on the 12 year-old daughter part.”

“My friend was asked to see a funny trick and she said ok then the Uber man went ahead and kissed her. Awkward.”

“My Uber driver put me in a headlock one time. I have footage to prove it.”

“When I called for an Uber and it ended up being my dad.”

“My roommates and I got into our Uber and I was sitting in the front seat so I reached out to shake the guys hand. My other roommate went to follow my lead and he ended up lingering and basically holding her hand. She was so drunk and kept chatting it up. Then we got home and the Uber driver was texting her just to say hey. She woke up the next morning with texts from him and we joke about how he liked her. But now she won’t call him when we desperately need him.”

“I got in the Uber around 2 a.m. and all of my friends and I were so drunk and the guy brought us watermelon and huge water bottles. We ate all of the watermelon. Let’s hope he didn’t do anything to it.”
