One of the greatest aspects of URI is the surrounding community that, eventually, most students call their home. If you overcame the freshman 15, cheers to you, but good luck with the upperclassmen 30. It’s a blessing and a curse to have amazing bars and restaurants within such close proximity. The following is a guide to the best bars and restaurants and all of their must-try items. You’re welcome collegiates- eat, drink, and be merry!

Mews Tavern- Wakefield

Mews is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for beer, beer, and more beer.  And who can forget its perfect pairing with buffalo chicken dip? Although, if you would rather a giant cup of heaven to share among friends, then the gator bowl is what you need.

Crazy Burger- Narragansett

As if the name wasn’t a dead give away, these burgers are on another level. Not to mention the restaurant has a BYOB policy for drinks.

Iggy’s- Point Judith

It’s a seasonal favorite, so it’s is very important to take advantage of the doughboys and clam chowder while you can.

Diego’s- Newport

Trust me, you can order whatever you want (although I suggest the quesadillas), the only thing that truly matters at all is the guac.

Coast Guard House- Narragansett Pier

Here, it’s not important what you eat (because everything is delish). It’s more about where you eat it. Coast Guard House is known not only for great eats, but also its gorgeous views and amazing location right on the water next to the Towers.

Island Deli- Point Judith

I don’t think I have ever craved sandwiches quite like I crave Island Deli. Although there are so many delicious items, the local favorite is the Wicked Willow.  This masterpiece is, “so good we put it on the menu twice,” according to the menu.  It comes complete with, “Willow Tree chicken salad, applewood smoked bacon, fresh tomato and Muenster cheese melting out of a pressed wrap.”

Picnic Basket- Narragansett Pier

If you’re from New Jersey and feel like you’re missing out on pork roll, I’m here to tell you that there is still hope. Picnic Basket’s breakfast sandwiches are literally the best. (Side note: stop at Cool Beans Café right next door for coffee to complement any of these fine sandwiches).

Brewed Awakenings- South County Commons

Two words, one love: Frozen Chai. (Of course they have great coffee too!)

Smoothy Booty- Wakefield

As you can imagine, the booty is the only place to even think about going to fulfill all of your smoothie desires.
