Basic Snapchat Stories We All Make

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

Although most of us won’t openly admit being basic, we can’t deny setting a basic Snapchat Story. If you’ve ever set one of these Snaps to your “My Story” before, I’m sorry to tell you, but…

1.      Any meal you’ve ordered at a restaurant.

*insert heart eyes emoji*

2.     …Or a meal you’ve made for yourself at home.

“Call me Chef *insert your name*”

3.     Whatever you’re drinking

“Here we go”

4.     The uber-ride selfie with a friend.

Sometimes the only free time you have to set a story, so might as well.

5.     Your pet/a selfie with your pet.

Just in case anyone cares how in love you are with your pup.

6.     A sunset that you’ve captured at the perfect time.

To make everyone jealous of your view.

7.     A picture of the TV during any “basic” show

(AKA Grey’s Anatomy & The Bachelor)

8.     A cup of tea or hot chocolate when you’re getting cozy.

“Serenity”, “Peace”

9.     Your cup of iced coffee or latte.

Starbucks or Dunkin… “Necessary”

10.     Some part of the gym the one time you actually go.

Maybe everyone will think I’m productive now.

11.      The time filter when you have to get up early

Someone feel bad for me.

12.      Any picture of “Bae”

Just making sure you all know I have a boyfriend.

13.     “She’s here” and an ugly pic of your friend who’s visiting.

So everyone knows that you actually can make friends.

14.      The classic Selfie.

Because something about you looks better today, let’s hope everyone notices.

15.     Your setup while studying or at the library.

Because clearly everyone needs to know how studious you are.

16.     The “my school is better than yours” snap.

Usually it’s a photo of your campus in pretty weather, but anything goes as long as they feel somewhat jealous.

17.     The airplane wing.

Because I’m going on vacation and I think this makes me artsy.

18.     The waves/”hot dog or legs” pic at the beach.

Everyone must know I’m “relaxing” even though I’m just scrolling through social media.

19.     The “morning after” Snapchat.

Whether it’s of your friend still in last night’s outfit, or your plate full of hangover food, you’re probably guilty of setting this one, because everyone needs to know how hard you went last night.

If you say you’ve NEVER set any of these as your story, you’re probably lying to yourself. Everyone can be basic in some way these days so just embrace it!
