With winter break commencing in the next days or already starting for some people, the question is how will you spend the next three to four weeks? Here are just a few things that you can do over your winter break:

1. Plan Day Trips

Want to get away but can’t necessarily afford to go on an extended trip somewhere, then plan day trips! Whether it is a quick trip into the city for lunch at your favorite restaurant and shopping or a day trip to a winter themed attraction in another state, filling your break with day trips and memories that will last forever will be worth it!

2. Go Skiing/Snowboarding

Winter break is the perfect time to hit the slopes! For all the skiers and snowboarders, visiting your favorite mountain as many times as possible during break is ideal. For those of you who are like me, and don’t do either of these, tubing is also a very fun option.

3. Go on a Tropical Getaway

If you have ever planned a trip in advanced, then a tropical getaway is the way to go. Every year I personally look forward to my family’s yearly vacation to a tropical island, just in time to escape reality and the cold all in one!

4. Catch up on Sleep

As the lack of sleep during finals continues to increase over the weeks, using break to catch up on sleep is very important. Break is a perfect time to press the restart button on your whacky sleep schedule!

5. Get Career Experience

Using winter break to get experience in your future career field is always a good idea especially because most summer internship applications open up during the course of December to March. Shadow a professional in your field for a day, set-up an informational interview with a family friend or start applying to internships!

6. Go to the Movies/Bowling

Catching up on all the new movies released during break is always a good idea especially if your local movie theater runs ticket deals on a random day during the week. If you get bored with movies, go bowling! Most bowling alleys have perks and activities that you can partake in too if bowling isn’t your thing.

7. Catch up with Friends

It’s hard to always stay up-to-date on your friend’s lives when they are miles away at college too! Hanging out with them over break and catching up on life is a much needed thing that needs to occur before you both go back for second semester.
