7 Things About URI to be Thankful For

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

The University of Rhode Island is our home. With Thanksgiving coming up, you’re probably feeling thankful about the campus we all know and love.

1. The location

The Ocean State is the place to be. With Naragansett, Newport, and Providence all less than 30 minutes away, you have plenty of options when you want to get off campus.

2. The campus

URI was named the 3rd most beautiful coastal college in the United States, and we agree. Whether it is fall, winter, spring, or summer, URI is beautiful during every season. It truly is the picturesque New England college.

3. How close URI is to the beach.

Although we only have beach weather the first month and last month of the school year, going to Hazard Rock or Naragansett beach on a pretty fall day is just as good.

4. The emporium at the top of campus.

I-Zone, Rhode House, Bagelz, and Albie’s all have a special place in my heart.

5. The RIPTA.

When you park at the bottom of campus and have a class at the top, or just don’t want to walk to class in 20 degree weather, the RIPTA feels like a gift from heaven.

Accurate gif of me when the RIPTA comes:

6. The ability to get involved.

With over 100 clubs and organizations at URI,  you are bound to find one perfect for you.

7. You’ve probably met friends that will last a lifetime here.

Going to URI is the reason I met the best friend’s I’ve ever had, and I could not be more thankful for that.
