5 Genius URI Dining Hall Hacks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

It doesn’t matter if you go to Hope or Butt, here are 5 super easy dining hall hacks to try on URI’s campus.

1. Ice cream sandwich

First grab two cookies. I usually like either the ranger cookies or the chocolate chip. Then pick your favorite flavor of buttcream and put it on one cookie. Squish your cookies together. There you have a perfect Butterfield ice cream sandwich.

2. Chicken Mac N’ cheese

This hack only works when Hope has their infamous mac n’ cheese. All you have to do is ask the people at the grill to give you grilled chicken. Chop it up and mix it in with a huge helping of mac n’ cheese and you’ve revamped your dinner.

3. Ice cream float

This hack is great when you want something for an after dinner snack. Simply get a plastic cup of buttcream and just leave enough room for your favorite soda. Grab a spoon and enjoy.

4. Banana split

My favorite part about eating in Butterfield is when they have their ice cream bar. I like to grab and banana and a plate. Then I just split the banana down the middle and get rid of the peel. Next, add buttcream and your favorite toppings. Then VOILA! You have the greatest dessert that the dining hall can offer.

5. Taco salad

This hack allows you to be a little more creative. Go up to the burrito bar at Butt and make yourself a bowl of any kind. I usually opt for a vegetarian option. Once you make your bowl, get a plate full of tortilla chips. Dump your bowl onto the chips and mix it up. If you want, get extra veggies from the salad bar. This is my go to when I don’t know what to have for dinner.
