25 Things You Will Find on Every URI Girl’s Instagram Account

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

There is no question that Rhode Island is home to beautiful people, beautiful beaches, and beautiful food. With this, there are certain things that every gal just loves to capture for their Instagram. If you need some refreshing, take a look at this list of things you are destined to find on every URI girl’s Instagram account:

1. The Selfie.

I’m not sure if it’s the amazing lighting that reflects off the waves of the beach, or that URI women are just plain vain. Whatever it is, if you’re looking at an Instagram account of a girl who attends URI, you are sure to find a selfie.

2. Sand, or waves, or both.

When you live so close to the beach, there’s no doubt that girls will flock to get that perfect Insta.

3. Rhody sunsets.

Rhode Island sunsets are arguably one of the most beautiful aspects of this little state. Especially when you can watch them from a spot such as the Point Judith lighthouse or the Narragansett sea wall.

4. #FlannelGang.

5. Sorority girls “throwing what they know”.

If she’s in a sorority, chances are she has at least one photograph with her sistas throwing up some kind of intricate hand sign that somehow symbolizes the name of their sorority.

6. Black thigh-high socks.

Although temperatures drop well below freezing during the winter months, URI girls still love to flash some skin. After years of practice, we have now found a way to do this in the midst of winter – just throw on a pair of black thigh-high socks. Your skin showing is minimized, so you’re no longer cold, and you can still wear a pair of shorts in January. Win win situation.

7. Anything and everything she stocked up with for the blizzard(s).

8. Someone else’s bunny, hedgehog, or kitten.

There is also the occasional puppy from the household who was feeling extra bold, or extra not-caring what their landlord thinks or says.

9. “I love darty season.”

10. “Back at it” upon returning to URI for the semester.

11. Birds eye view of the breakfast table at T’s or Phil’s.

“I’ll have an egg white omelette and a mimosa, please.”

12. Chipotle.

If she’s going to take the 30 minute treck to Warwick to get a burrito bowl, you best believe she’s going to take a picture when she gets there.

13. A picture with her future roomies.

14. Location: Pancho O’Malley’s or Bon Vue.

Because it’s no secret that anyone can get into Pancho’s, and everybody secretly loves Bon Vue.

15. Inspirational girl-power quotes.

16. Yoga poses.

Yoga in the bedroom. Yoga on the beach. Yoga on the quad. Yoga in class. Yoga everywhere.

17. An ice cream cone from Brickley’s Ice Cream.

18. Animals on the quad.

Puppies visit every year, and one time there was a goat. She obviously documented both experiences.

19. A picture from some kind of overrated, mainstream rave.

Did you even go to URI if you didn’t go to Life in Color at least once?

20. Flowy printed pants.

21. Rocks on rocks on cliffs on rocks.

Because risking your life climbing rocks on Ocean Road is so worth the picture.

22. *Insert fraternity name here* – “Formal with this guy”.

23. Throw-it-as-far-back-as-you-can-Thursday.

Featuring: the youngest baby photo she could possibly find.

24. #ManCrushMonday.

25. The “I love my school” campus photo.

URI is beautiful, and everyone knows it.

Sabrina is a senior at URI studying public relations. She is originally from MA but has found a home in the Ocean State. A peer mentor, sister of Kappa Delta sorority, and HC Campus Correspondent at URI, she loves being involved on campus. If she could describe herself in a few words, she would say she's a driven individual with a huge heart who's obsessed with all things fashion, music, and adventurous.
