14 Things Only People With Contacts Understand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

Contact lenses are a great thing, yes. But sometimes they are just a real pain in the neck. And the eyes. As thankful as we are for contact lenses, we could complain about them for days. People with good vision really don’t understand the daily struggles us contact-wearers go through. Here are some of the things contact-wearers know that others just don’t understand:

1. The longing feeling of wanting to rub your eyes

2. Waking up and not being able to see where you are

3. The struggle of your contact falling out in public

4. The pain of breaking your contact… while it’s in your eye

5. Waking up from a nap with the driest eyes ever

6. The amount of people that ask if you were just crying after you touch your eyes

7. Not being able to have long nails

8. Not being able to have spontaneous sleepovers without being blind the next day

9. The pain of opening your eyes under water

10. Finding hard old contacts stuck to everything

11. Forgetting to order more contacts so you have to wear your glasses

12. When you loose your contact in your eye

13. Or worse, losing it and not knowing if it’s still in your eye or on the floor

14. Not having a spare while in public so you walk around with one eye closed

Yes, contact lesnses are a blessing for those of us with horrible vision. But truthfully, every dang day, the struggle is REAL.
