Six Nail Polish Colors Every Girl Should Have

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

Do you have a friend who has an unhealthy obsession with nail polishes? Are they the type of person that has a different color on their nails every week and you don’t ever remember them repeating a color? I have to admi,t I’m that friend. However, it’s understandable that not everyone has the time, the effort, or even the money to buy the world’s supply of nail polishes.

Here are a few colors every girl should have for all occasions:

1. Red

It is considered to be one of the most classical colors on a woman. It reflects sophistication, passion, and confidence. If you want to attract someone’s attention then paint your nails red!

You can try “Chic” by Bettina ($2.25) or “Gogo Girl” by Sinful Colors ($1.99).

2. Nude

Unlike red, nude colors don’t attract much attention, even though they give off the effect of manicured nails. A nude color is conservative, serious, and elegant. They’re perfect for that internship where you really want to impress your boss.

You can try “Nude” by Bettina or “Sandy Beach” by Essie ($8).

3. White

It’s considered to be a very chic color. At first glance, you’ll stand out but you’ll also be seen as clean, calm, and collected.

You can try “Blane” by Essie, “Marshmallow” by Bettina, or “Snow Me White” by Sinful Colors.

4. Black or Navy

Every girl who is in constant contact with professionals who might influence her future would use black or a navy color. Although similar to work uniforms, it will show you as professional and more focused on your work rather than on making a statement, even if this is untrue. It also shows that you are daring and not afraid to show others the dark corners of your personality.

You can try “Fashionista” by Revlon ($3.99) or “Onyx” by Bettina.

5. Pink

Depending on the shade of pink you decide to sport, your nails will look groomed and attended to. Your feminine side will be seen, along with either gentleness or boldness.

You can try “Easy Going” or “Boom Boom” by Sinful Colors, “Fly” by China Glaze ($5), or “Kiss of Pink” by Sally Hansen ($5).

6. Your favorite color!

Why shouldn’t you wear your favorite or whatever color pleases you? That’s the beauty of nail polishes. Besides being one more thing we need to spend time on, we get to show others how we feel and who we are with our nails. Use glitters, use mattes, use dark or bright colors, use metallics or sheer ones. Try them all!

* Drugstores were the date base for the prices. They could vary from store to store and country to country.

** Bettina is only sold in Puerto Rico and Florida, but could be bought through their official website.
