This Sunday, the two best teams in the NFL this season, the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots, will face off in the Super Bowl and there’s one thing occupying everyone’s mind (besides Tom Brady, of course): how to throw the ultimate Super Bowl Sunday party. When celebrating an event as important as the Super Bowl, there are various ways to go through with it, depending on your individual preference. You can go all out and buy the 40-foot projector for a large crowd, or watch in the living room with some close friends. Regardless of the style, there are key elements necessary for any Super Bowl; here are a few.

Food and beer

First things first: any football fan knows that tailgating is an essential part of the football-viewing ritual. Tailgating is basically the hours before the football game when fans arrive in buses and cars to gather around the outside of the stadium to drink and prepare barbeques for fellow fans of your team. It has become a tradition among football fans so for your Super Bowl party, it is a requirement to serve food for your guests along with whatever beverage (traditionally beer) they desire. Some easy snacks you can serve at your Super Bowl party are wings, chips, loaded potato skins and pizza; of course, alcohol is a necessity (and the only way I was able to survive watching Coldplay at last year’s halftime show.)

Decorations

It’s important to have a few items representing your team around the house to provide additional motivation and scare off bad vibes from Patriots fans (unless you actually live in Boston, in which case, good luck). Some ideas include posters, team jerseys, classic gift shop antiques, etc. If you’re feeling creative, you can even bring a deflated Tom Brady to use as a pinata (jeje, see what I did there?). Adding that personal touch to your Super Bowl party allows you and your guests to enjoy it more, immersing yourselves in the emotion and magic provided only by the Super Bowl.

Company

At the end of the night, the most important thing is being surrounded by the best company. Regardless of which team wins or loses, the Super Bowl is time spent with close friends and people you enjoy talking with. Aside from the intensity of the game, this event is also renowned for its iconic commercials and legendary halftime shows for families to reminisce. This season, the halftime artist is Lady Gaga, which ensures this year’s performance will be one to beat.

Throw the best Super Bowl party you can, add your own personal touch to it, and make sure to enjoy yourself with family and friends during this epic annual event.
