From High School Sweetheart to College Hottie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

It was a Monday, an awful Monday as they tend to be. I walked my way to meet one of my best friend’s “little brother”, whom had a book to lend me from her. We meet on the agreed place via text message, and as I approached the suspected guy I realized that my friend forgot to tell me how his brother was very hot and not so little. The Campus Cutie survey took place that night, online, and imagine whose picture was in the mixer of possible candidates for this section? Right, of course, you know.

Meet this week’s freshman’s Campus Cutie, the boy that transformed from High-School Heartthrob to a  college hottie.  He has it all, the hair, the honey eyes, the sexy smile, the athletic body and the kilometric height. Mostly, he is a focused, sweet, down-to-earth guy with a bright future ahead and the right attitude to achieve whatever he proposes to accomplish. With a well-known, hard-worked reputation of being an A list volleyball player, he is thirsty for titles and winnings. Please, allow me to introduce you to your new crush, and remind you why you should go to every single volley game of the season and cheer for El Colegio.

Name: Diego Eduardo Rodés Portelles

Age: 18

Major: Biology

Relationship status: Single

HCUPRM: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

DR: Hopefully finishing my career in Medicine. I am interested in the Periodontics field. Although I also like Dermatology, I incline toward Periodontics. We’ll see…

HCUPRM: What qualities do you look for in a girl?

DR: Well, she has to be smart and nice to talk to. Most importantly, she must be humble and very down to earth.

HCUPRM: Describe your perfect date

DR: Somewhere in the outdoors, a beach or a park:  a place with really nice views, quiet, under the stars, were we can talk and get to know each other, probably while sharing a nice meal, maybe do some hiking later or something like that.

HCUPRM: Favorite place?

DR: You mean place to be or place I have went to?

HCUPRM: Whatever comes to your mind when I say “Favorite Place”…

DR: Home

HCUPRM: Rumor has it you are quite a pro at volleyball; you were part of the 2012 Gold Medal winner team of the Boys Volleyball Junior National Championship. What does it means to you to play at the UPRM’s volleyball team, knowing the great passion us “colegiales” have for our sports?

DR: Such an honor! I have been working for it; I have been practicing the sport since I was a little boy.

HCUPRM: Do you think UPRM can win the Male Volleyball Intercollegiate Championship this year?

DR: Of course, and we will! We are training intensely, our coach is focused and that helps us keep on track at all times and give our best. There is a lot of talent in the team; we are focused on winning to the toughest teams, such as UPR-RP and UNE, and by doing so getting closer to the championship which is the goal this year.

HCUPRM: What’s your life motto?

DR: They asked me the same question for the High School Yearbook and this remains my answer: “Live the life you love, love the life you live.” It is a quote from Bob Marley, and I believe it resumes the whole purpose of life itself.

HCUPRM: UPRM girls are better because?

DR: They have it all, beauty, brains, personality and they know where they are going in life.
