Name: Gabriel García Marquez

Age: 21

Major: Human Resources

Relationship status: Taken

Hidden talent: I’m actually really good at reciting poetry, won a few competitions in my high school a couple of years ago. After all I have a famous Colombian writer’s name!

Describe yourself in three words: Honest, passionate, friendly

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment as a college student? My biggest accomplishment as a college student happened just days ago, when I got accepted for a summer Human Resources Internship with Boeing. I still can’t believe it. It’s going to be an amazing adventure, so guess what? Next summer I’m heading to Seattle, Washington!

Most embarrassing moment at UPRM? In my first year and I fell asleep in a Spanish class, next thing I know I woke up and the class had ended, the classroom was completely empty, but guess what? The professor was still in the room, and let’s just say she was not happy that I fell asleep in her class.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? Working as a Human Resource Generalist with a great company and married to a beautiful, ambitious, down to earth and dog loving wife.

What cheers you up? My mom’s cooking. She makes best bistec in the world! I’m dead serious, just ask my friends.

Best memorable UPRM experience: I’d have to say every day. Do we even realize how lucky we are to be able to study in such a great university. Not only that, but the people of UPRM really are the best there is. So every day is a memorable experience, an adventure in “El Colegio”, you never know what you might encounter.

Say something to the person who just read this: It’s not easy the world we are living in today. This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth, but we can always bounce back and learn from the mistakes we did. Keep your family and true friends close. Remember to just enjoy the ride. Like Mae West said: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
