Stating their essence in their first Spring 2016 issue, Sábanas Literary Magazine is a space that “evokes a feeling, safe but vulnerable. Where you’re inclined to be more intimate but always leaving some words unsaid. Instead they are in the touches you exchange, in the small pauses and sighs, in the pressure you add to your pen. There is no need to impress with your extensive knowledge of form and structure, let your sincerity and vulnerability do that for you.” Now, around the corner for their Fall 2018 edition, the non-profit bilingual magazine is in full-force and ready to accept your shorts stories and/or poetry from today until September 27th.

The UPRM alumni-run organization under Editor-in-Chief and Operations Manager Dr. José Irizarry is currently in the works of accepting publications from alumni from universities all across the island Dr. Irizarry comments, “we’re looking forward to putting out Volume V and receiving more submissions from alumni from all across the island and from la diaspora.”

The west coast-based magazine and open mic arts event took off in the Spring of 2016 and has since grown both in content and staff, whom are mostly compiled of UPRM alumni. The media outlet for emergent writers and poets for all the major universities in Puerto Rico and abroad are set to keeping their magazine/event’s essence strong and true to their nature as well as remaining a biannual publication.
Submissions are open until the 27th of September, while publication of the magazine and the event are set for late November.
