Going back to school can be a rather stressful event, from having to look for outfits every day, to getting used to your  new classes and professors. While some would like to stay at home trying to catch Pokémons and others are going crazy wanting to go back to campus and see their friends, we all have to come back. But is not as bad as it may seem, though it is kinda rough. So here are some suggestions to start the year off right!

  1. Get an agenda.

Though you can obviously use your phone to set reminders, having an agenda gives you a little extra help and can be a great tool to stay organized and visualize what you have to get done.

2.  Pick up a new hobby.

Naps are great! But you might want to try yoga, writing, drawing, etc. This new hobby will help you when things get stressful. Remember, you always need time for yourself and socializing. Resting is very important!

3. Talk to one stranger every day.

This might seem a little crazy, but a new school year is a great opportunity to expand your social circle and get to know amazing people around campus.

4. Choose a healthier lifestyle.

This does not mean dieting. Eating healthier and having a more active lifestyle can help you improve your grades and, most importantly, your self-esteem. Meal prepping can save you a lot of time and money. Taking care of yourself, your body, and being mindful of what you eat will improve your life.

5. Keep a journal.

Even if it is on a little piece of paper and done in two minutes once a week, writing your thoughts and experiences from during the week can help you learn more about yourself, know what you can improve, etc. Writing is a good way of visualizing, so even if it’s a list with bullet points, is a start!

6. Be more involved on campus!

There are a lot of great clubs and initiatives around campus, one is bound to be interesting and helpful to you.

7. Spend less.

Know what you need and know what you don’t. Saving money can really help future plans, like going away on a trip for spring or summer break, taking a summer class, etc. Be mindful of your expenses.

8. Have a more positive outlook in life.

Being positive can really help you when dealing with the back to school stress (and the rest of the year). It will improve your mood, your patience, and helps you to deal better with the day to day craziness of life. Shake off those negative vibes and keep away from negative people!

I honestly hope these tips can help you improve your back to school experience. Hope you all had a wonderful summer break!
