11 Things People Who Don’t Really Like the Holidays Can Relate To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

1. You can’t really stay positive during finals week, because right around the corner is the most stressful part of the year: the holidays.

Actual gif of you on January 7.

2. If you thought your family arguing about the elections on Thanksgiving was bad, worry not: you’ve got 3-4 more of these nightmares to look forward to.

3. And if you’re from a mixed family, you’ll find yourself having to split your time between 2-3 different family nuclei, and still manage to disappoint all of them somehow.

Chill, Rory. I do this every year.

4. Everything stresses you out. For starters, there’s figuring out the perfect gift for your loved ones, which would be a lot easier if you had saved money during the semester or planned ahead.

5. And all those lines at the mall don’t make the job all that appealing, either.

6. Everyone loves all those pretty Christmas lights. Meanwhile, you’re concerned about your town’s power bill and its carbon footprint.

EARTH IS DYING!

7. It all makes you pretty cynical, which luckily makes you a blast at parties.

Not that you’re ever invited to any, though you know you would if you weren’t such a sourpuss.

8. Unfortunately, people tend to take your disdain for the holidays the wrong way. In reality, the season just bums you out because they’re a reminder of people you’ve lost…

9. …of you’re forced to spend them with people who make you feel alone and misunderstood.

10. And though sometimes you wish you had homework or any other responsibility to get you out of there,

11. At least there’s alcohol.
