“THE WALKING DEAD” Season Premiere Reaction

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

So the season premiere of “The Walking Dead” just happened, and man, it was intense. This is one of those episodes that really makes you question if you should actually keep watching a show that breaks your heart in the worst way! Here is our live reaction to the premiere of this devastating episode. Be prepared for spoilers and a lot of CAPS LOCK!

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE EPISODE, WATCH IT, AND THEN COME BACK.

Watching the countdown right now after the “TWD” marathon, are we ready for this? Probably not. The question is, will they follow the comics?

The “eenymeeny miny moe” tune has been completely ruined for me.

Wait! Did the killing already happened?! Who died?! Was it Glenn?!

Who had the ax? I don’t remember.

Oh god the camera is going down and WHOSE BRAIN IS THAT?

*Cue the opening and commercial*  Always interrupting at the best part!

Negan took Rick away! Grab the ax Rick, grab it!

Wait nope LOL Negan has gun.

Wait, Rosita was killed? No, they’re just thoughts. The show is trying to confuse us!

“Let’s be friends” Oh hell no Negan!

Whoop Rick was just thrown to the zombies.

This tension is killing us and it’s kind of annoying. Are they going to keep us in the dark the whole episode?

Rick crying, our poor baby. He needs a hug.

*Commercial break* NOOOOOOOOOO

Are they seriously going to keep teasing us with scenes of the group? Because if it’s going to be like this I’m going to get mad.

15 minutes, two commercials and we still don’t know who got beat up by Lucille.

Wait, is this it? A flashback to the beating scene!

OH MY GOD THE TENSION!!!

ABRAHAM!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!

“Suck my nuts” At least he went like a true hero.

Oh jeez Negan keeps hitting his head, THE SOUNDS! Poor Rosita.

At least Glenn is safe.

You go Daryl! Hit Negan! Wait, they got him, don’t you dare kill Daryl. The producers don’t have the guts to kill two of the main characters in one episode.

Yeah you better let Daryl go!

“Back to it” Wait…..

GLENN!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! IT’S JUST LIKE THE COMICS!!! HIS EYE!!!

I WAS SO WRONG THEY DID KILL TWO OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS!!! WE ARE LITERALLY SCREAMING!!! HE LITERALLY DESTROYED HIS HEAD!!!

“Maggie I’ll find you.” HE’S NOT EVEN THINKING ABOUT HIMSELF, HE’S THINKING ABOUT HIS LOVE! HOW CAN WE GO TO SCHOOL TOMORROW AFTER THIS?! We just died.

*Commercial break* sobbing in a corner

Rick is holding on to a walker to save himself from other walkers. Hold on tight!

THEY KILLED ROSITA TOO?! THEY’RE KILLING EVERYONE! Nahhhh this must be a dream sequence or something.

All that for an ax, Negan you’re so sick. He’s such a great villain though, we tip our hat to the actor.

*Commercial break* UGH

Negan has just tamed Rick, or has he?

Negan just called Carl to the front, please no.

What is he doing to his arm? He’s going to cut it! NEGAN YOU SADIST YOU WANT RICK TO CUT HIS OWN SON’S ARM?!?! SICK!!

IS CARL GOING TO KEEP LOSING BODY PARTS? SICKEST EPISODE EVER!

FALSE ALARM! IT WAS JUST A TEST.

NEWS FLASH: NEGAN HAS OFFICALLY TAMED THE RICKSTER.

*Commercial break* Only a little bit more

My babies look so broken.

You go Maggie! She wants justice! She’s being so brave right now. We love her so much.

“I’m taking him with me” SOBS

They just showed a “what if?” scene. They could all have been so happy.

They took the bodies. They have lost all hope.

*Cue end credits* ……………………………….. We are now an empty shell of what we used to be.

Conclusion: We’re broken, but at the same time, it’s good that the series has taken such a risk to further the plot since the couple of last seasons have fallen a little flat. Also, Glenn’s death in the comics was such an iconic scene that the producers couldn’t just skip it. Even if it tore our hearts, it was a satisfying episode. Can’t wait to see how the season will flesh out!
