As part of our Thanksgiving week over here at HC UPR, we have partnered with HC Lasell, HC Holy Cross, and HC University of Michigan to make an activity in which we could get to know what the Her Campus experience is like in other universities. Alas, the “HC Thanksgiving Collab” was created. Thanks to this collaboration, I got to meet and interview the events director for Her Campus at Holy Cross, Fiona Willette. She is currently a sophomore majoring in Physics on the health studies track and, apart from being a member of HC Holy Cross, she is a campus tour guide and participates in her university’s Women in Physics club and ski team. She also works as a tutor on campus!
Ana Emmanuelli: So, How many years have you been participating in the chapter?
Fiona Willette: One of my friend’s older sisters was actually running our chapter last year so I thought that I would give it a shot for her mainly, but then I ended up really enjoying it so I continued.
That’s actually so cool! I actually heard about Her Campus through a friend that had already been a member for about 2 years. What do you like most about being part of Her Campus?
I love how writing an article every week is like an outlet; I can write about something that I enjoy without thinking about college or schoolwork or the million other things going on.
Taking into consideration the different health guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, what type of bonding activities has your Her Campus chapter done lately to keep in touch during the pandemic?
We have had speakers come virtually over Zoom to some of our meetings in order to chat with us. On the other hand, since we are in-person on campus, we’ve been able to get together to do brainstorming sessions for article ideas.
I love that! Sadly my college is still giving virtual classes so we can’t meet up on campus per sé. Our chapter has done activities here and there but they’ve mostly been virtual as well. Now, onto the bonus round! Who’s your favorite artist?
I am assuming you are talking about music artist HAHAーI am a big country music fan so my favorite artist right now is Jordan Davis.
I personally listen more to pop music but I’ve been looking for new songs to listen to, so I’ll definitely check him out! Ok, final question. What would you say is a “must-see” for people visiting your state?
So a city in my stateーNew Havenーis actually known as “the pizza capital of the United States” so I would definitely say that you have to go there and try some pizza!!
I love pizza so I’ll definitely put that on my list if I get to visit New Haven. Well, that’s it for my questions. It was so nice to meet you!
It was nice to meet you too!
