Stickers, ah, we all love them. They’re a great way to self-express in small ways. You can stick them anywhere if they’re made of vinyl and have strong adhesive. They’re basically an easy way to decorate anything and everything: from cups to a notebook, cars to purses, counters to walls. You really can just stick ‘em anywhere. It’s even better when you find stickers that cater to you. Stick your hands up and empty your wallet because that’s how it’s going to feel when you take a look at these locally relevant stickers.

Her Campus at UPR: Your stickers are amazing!

¡Tus pegatinas son increíbles!

Borikiki Store: Thank you so much!

¡Muchas gracias!

HC UPR: Please introduce yourself and your store.

Preséntate y a tu tienda, por favor.

BS: My name is Alexandra Burgos, I’m the creator of Borikiki Store and the concept behind it is Art with Boricua flow/style. I wanted to create art for people in my culture (young boricuas) to identify with. I wanted people to see my stickers and either see themselves or people they know.

HC UPR: When did you start making the stickers?

¿Cuándo empezaste a hacer las pegatinas?

BS: I started on October 2018 so about a year and a month ago!

HC UPR: You have some really creative stickers, like “Certified Caco” and the dog with “Tropicalea”. Where do you get your design inspiration from? Do you make your own art?

BS: I mostly get my inspiration from everyday things. The good thing about the product I create is that I form part of the target market, so my friends, the way we speak, some of our experiences are relevant to my product. I also find a lot of visual inspiration from Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.

HC UPR: Do you make your own art? Do you have any other artistic interests?

¿Haces tu propio arte? ¿Tienes otros intereses artísticos?

BS: I make the stickers on my iPad and sometimes I paint in acrylic or I draw on my notebooks but it’s just for fun. I make my own art. Since I was a little girl I liked to draw and paint. When I was between 9th and 10th grade I wanted to be a fashion designer and I spent hours drawing clothes and I still like to design and to draw fashion!

HC UPR: What’s your creative process like? Do you do anything in specific to get into the creation vibe?

BS: It’s very random, usually I have an idea and quickly get to drawing and finish it in 30 minutes to an hour. Other times I’ll spend days on a piece because I lack some inspiration, or I don’t like how a particular design turning out, so I start over. It also depends on the amount of detail the design has.

HC UPR: How are they made?

¿Cómo los haces?

BS: I draw them on my iPad and then have them printed and shipped to my door. I have them made outside of Puerto Rico in order to have them be good quality, waterproof and UV coated.

HC UPR: Where can we find your creations?

¿Dónde podemos encontrar tus creaciones?

BS: You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. There’s also the Borikiki Store website. You can order your stickers through that platform and have them shipped to your house.

Puedes encontrarme en Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

HC UPR: What’s your price range? Where can we buy your beautiful stickers?

¿Cuál es el rango de precios? ¿Dónde podemos comprar tus hermosas pegatinas?

BS: They range from $5 to $6 depending on the material and now we have a sticker sheet with 12 stickers at $15! You can buy them through the Borikiki Store website. Order there and ship them to your house.

HC UPR: How long does your stock usually last?

¿Cuánto dura generalmente tu stock?

BS: It really depends on the sticker and how much I order of each design. I had 2 designs that lasted only a few hours since posting and I have others that don’t sell as much, and I end up having it for a few months. It really depends on the design.

Make sure to check out Borikiki Store. They currently have a promo where you buy 4 stickers and get the 5th one free. I love these designs so much and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Show me the stickers you have via Instagram.
