This Is a Sign: If You Want Something, Do It

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

I overthink a lot. I spend a lot of time deciding whether I should make changes to my life or not, which ultimately leads me to not do anything at all. However, this past year I’ve been challenging myself a bit, especially during quarantine, and trying not to think too much about things that I want. And if you are anything like me, a person who has trouble deciding to do things, the following might help you out. I’m here to tell you to do what you want. There’s no time like the present to learn new things, make some changes or finally make a decision that has been steaming in your mind for a while. So, here’s a list of possible things that you might have been wanting to try out, but have been overthinking about, until now!

Change your hairstyle

Quarantine has us suffocated, and because of that, we might want to make some changes. A popular change this year has been changing hairstyles, such as getting bangs or dyeing your hair. The time is now and you won’t regret it. I personally did both to my hair a month ago and I love it. And even if you end up not really liking it, don’t worry! Your hair will grow back in no time.

Get a piercing

I spent a whole year thinking about getting a nose piercing, and just before the pandemic, I got it. I do not regret it at all, and I wish I would have spent less time overthinking it. Piercings look great—just make sure you go to a professional piercer!

Get a tattoo

I don’t have any tattoos yet, but I would love to have one in the future. They are a great way to express yourself and they are works of art that stay with you forever. If you do decide to get one, please do research and make sure you go to a tattoo parlor that has good reviews.

Learn something new

You want to learn a new language? Do it. You want to learn how to play an instrument? Do it. You want to learn how to sew? What are you waiting for? There are so many skills that you could start learning today and knowledge you could acquire, and if you start now, you can master everything you want to. It’s never too late to learn something.

Read that book you’ve been putting off

Been there, done that. I sometimes feel like I’ve been in the biggest reading slump, and even though I want to read books that have been sitting on my shelves for years, I simply… don’t. So, I decided to read some books, and I managed to read seven books in like four weeks, and considering how bad my reading slump was, I consider that a win.

I hope I helped you sort some things out and that you feel inspired by this sign from the universe. Remember that overthinking will ultimately make you lose your time, so go ahead, you can do anything you want to do!
