Poetic Mondays: The Darker, Greater Storm

Here we begin, another week and a new poem that comes with it. This poem was sent by a new writer under the pen name F. E. Hope you enjoy it!

The darkened waves come crashing down,

And under I am crushed.

The sound they make gives a feeling

That seems so very void.

I hear the laughter at some good joke,

But feel so far gone.

Yet, deep inside me I feel a strength

From the trenches of my soul.

The darkened waves come crashing down,

But this time I am not crushed,

And in the distance I hear a thunder,

Yet do not feel void at all.

Now a warm, strong feeling

Goes from my legs

All the way up

To my core.

There it nests

And turns me into

Someone I do not loathe.

But, oh, alas!

I may at last feel hope

That all my falls

Have never been for naught!

The darkened waves come crashing down,

But so does my resolve,

And maybe even one day close

It is I who will be the storm.
