Operation Christmas Child: UPR Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

I know, I know… Christmas hasn’t started yet, but this year, we can definitely get a head start! With Thanksgiving next week, it’s the perfect season to give. This week starting from November 17, 2014  troughout November 21, 2014 a group of volunteers will be collecting shoe boxes in the lobby of AJBR(Generales) from 4:30pm-5:30pm. These shoeboxes are not just any kind of shoeboxes: they are filled with gifts of toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and notes of encouragement. More than 100 million shoeboxes have been given to kids in over 130 countries since Operation Christmas Child started in 1993. A shoebox gift from OCC tells a child in need that they are loved and opens up a myriad of life-changing opportunities for them, their family and their community. It all begins with a shoebox and it’s one of the easiest gifts you can make and more rewarding.  In 2014, Samaritan’s Purse hopes to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach another 10 million children through the Operation Christmas Child project. Below are the instructions to follow for packing a gift shoebox and all th details of the drop off site in the UPR. Remember, giving back is always in season!
