It was around 200 years ago when the happiest day for a lovely couple, both of 18 years of age, turned into a regretful memory and, sadly, an obscure tale.

The young couple, ready to embark on their newlywed life, rejoiced at their wedding reception, which was held in the bride’s family home. The guests and children all craved a fun activity they could participate in, causing the bride to suggest playing an innocent game of hide and seek. The groom was “it”, which made the game equally thrilling for the couple. The bride quickly hurried between the commotion of people running to find their hiding spot and disappeared.

As the guests carried on with the game and were eventually all found, the groom grew weary. He could not find the love of his life, no matter how hard he looked. A search party had been conducted, but none of the guests could find the missing bride.

Days passed, and no sign of the young bride had been found. It was as if she had vanished unexpectedly. The groom, in his darkest hour, considered the possibility that maybe his love had run away in regret of the marriage. In time, he healed from that pain and was able to move on with his life.

It wasn’t until a few years had passed, that an old woman found herself cleaning the bride’s house attic. In her process, she unveiled what seemed like a wooden trunk, the seal rusted and shut tight in the front. After great effort, the woman was able to detach the seal and when the trunk’s lid laid open, her mouth curled into a heavy scream. It was the missing bride, or what was left of her.

On their wedding day, the bride has sneaked into the house while everyone hid, and climbed to the attic. She crawled inside the wooden trunk, thinking no one would ever find her; Sadly, she was correct. When she closed the lid, the rusty hinged seal had fallen into place, trapping her inside. For years, her decaying body laid to rest confided in her wedding gown. Her face, puckered into a mixture of a scream and a cocky grin. She had won the game.
