5 minutes. That’s all it takes. It might feel like forever or like the flash of a camera. Have you ever found yourself waking up in the morning to complete silence? Where you’re not tired enough to keep sleeping but you’re also not ready to get out of bed. So you just stare at the ceiling thinking about things. Important things like life and your point of view. Thinking about beauty and nature. Thinking about who and what you love. If you haven’t been in that position i feel sorry for you because those five minutes make my day. They get me in a ranty mood.

Relationships are hard. we all know that. It’s a job nowadays. But you know what’s harder? Getting into a good one. times have changed and things aren’t as simple as they used to be. It’s honestly a headache most of the time. Not because it’s hard to talk to people and go out on dates. But because getting to know someone on a date is like learning how to bake a cake without the instructions. It’s like learning how to swim as you dive into the pool. It’s like chewing your sweet KFC chicken after you swallow. (#NotSponsored) in the end it won’t matter because you’ll just have a lackluster cake that represents the relationship to which you’ve already drowned and choked on.

Me personally i’ve become frustrated with the modern dating model of “letting it flow” i’ve heard it so often i’m already sick of it and i’ve only been dating for like a year. The thing with letting it flow is that with that philosophy you don’t pick who you marry, you just marry the person you’ve dated for a long time because nothing good ever came up. You don’t pick who you date because you forfeit all efforts to make a choice. You just expect the choices to make themselves. and that’s SUPER sad! It’s My life why can’t i marry someone i live for? Someone that i dedicated love letters too and worked hard to get? Someone i took the time to understand and know so i could treat them like gods. If letting it flow means i have to throw caution into the wind and hope i get the right girl, id rather die alone knowing i’m alone because i chose it than die married to someone i met by some “coincidence”. Because, news flash, coincidences are not real. Here’s how: i was born on February 20 and so were a lot of people. If i meet someone who was born on February 20 i’m not gonna freak out because it’s a 1 in 365 chance. (With the exception of leap year which has 366 days) And considering there’s 7 billion people on earth you shouldn’t be surprised when you meet a couple people with your same birthday. It’s not a coincidence if it’s statistically bound to happen.

Having the “let it flow” philosophy is like saying: “If a broken clock is right twice a day then surely some girl will fall in love with me at first sight.” LOVE ISN’T REAL! WE MAKE IT REAL! And if we make it real it’s our choices that make us happy. So we can’t just ignore them and “let it flow”

I saw a movie the other day called “how to be single” (#NotSponsored) and i really enjoyed it. Not for its originality because it was rather generic but for the overall message it tries to send. You have to love yourself. And be with yourself first before getting into a relationship. You have to do what you want. Relationships are a commitment and like all commitments there’s compromise. And compromising yourself is not an option. Do some spirit searching if you need to that’s cool. Just don’t mold yourself to whoever you’re falling in love with. Because remember love isn’t real. We make it real.

who am i? I'm Rafael Hernández. probably the most conceited person you'll ever meet. But not in a bad way. You see, I raise myself up because I believe that in order to love someone you have to first be able to love yourself. I get people. I'm a listener as much as i am a talker and that's saying a lot. I'm also honest and straightforward because I have nothing to hide and I'm not afraid to be blunt. I also think it's incredibly obnoxious to brag about oneself like i'm doing right now but hey it's a bio so let's have some fun with it XP. I always say: "Live life the way you want to because chances are nobody cares more about your life than you!" But don't take that out of context. it's ALSO important to listen and consider other people's opinions and foresight because sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to point out what's wrong. YOLO so make it count!
