Dear 2021 self,

I know 2020 has been a tough year. We took a lot of things for granted without knowing that our lives were going to change drastically. Spending time with friends, visiting the family, hugging, and kissing. Going to college, meeting new people, drinking a cup of coffee with the classmates in our favorite spot… all of that was taken away in a matter of days.

Change has always been a struggle for you, but don’t let that stop you from looking forward to chasing your dreams. 2021 is going to be better only if you believe that it’s possible. Even though the restrictions due to the pandemic are going to last a little longer, don’t take that as an excuse to not strive for a better version of yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I know that you have been trying to overcome everything that has happened during the last months as best as you can, and you are doing it wonderfully.

Just make sure you don’t let yourself fall. Prioritize your mental and physical health over everything else. Take some alone time if needed. Don’t be afraid to say no and stop giving everyone an explanation for the decisions you make. Take care of yourself, learn to own your space, but allow yourself to lean on another’s shoulders when you feel like you need it.

It’s understandable to be scared and uncertain of what’s going to happen next. We can’t expect anything, not after 2020, but don’t rush it. Take slow, but steady steps. I know you are capable of achieving everything you want.

Believe in yourself and believe in the fact that better times are coming. We are going to hug and kiss our family and friends as soon as the blink of an eye. Focus on the bright side― you have a couple of pending coffee dates, and you can raincheck them this 2021.

Hold on a little longer, you can do it.

With love,
