I Bet My Life On The Imagine Dragons (A Review)

When the lights went low, the crowd stood up.  Phones flashed and clicked as screams echoed into one big wave of excitement and anticipation.  The music rose up with with blinding lights and the crowd could only lean closer, stand higher, yell louder for what they’ve waited months for.  On Thursday, April 23rd, Imagine Dragons took the stage by storm.

When Imagine Dragons hit the stage in the Coliseo José Miguel Agrelot, your body felt the pounding of the music, your chest bursting like the colors and designs flowing around the stage.

They began the show with their newest single, “Shot,”  from their recently released album Smoke and Mirrors.  The crowd sang every word by heart, dancing over chairs and pumping their fists in time with the music as Dan Reynolds, the lead singer, wandered all over the stage singing loudly and his fellow band members followed with equal dedication.

And while they sang all of the songs from their newest album like “I Be My Life,” “Friction” “Sorry,” and others, they included some of their popular hits.  Songs like “Bleeding Out,” “It’s Time,” “On Top of the World,” and their biggest hit, “Radioactive,” adding guitar and drum solos that made your heart jump out of your chest, they added a few surprises.  The band added an emotional touch by singing “Forever Young,” celebrating life and thanking the fans for their kindness.  They also did an acoustic remix of “Monster” and “Warriors.

Imagine Dragons formed in 2009 and skyrocketed into international fame by their grammy award winning song “Radioactive” from their first album Night Visions.  But the band members, Dan Reynolds, Daniel Wayne Sermon, Daniel Platzman, and Ben Mckee, stay grounded by their sheer dedication into making music that they share with the world, and never once forgetting to thank the fans who come to their shows, including their fans in Puerto Rico.

And the crowd enjoyed every moment.  From the dynamic opening band Vivanativa, to Daniel Wayne Sermon’s guitar solos, Daniel Platzman’s drums, and Dan Reynold’s dancing, there wasn’t one dull moment in the show.
