For the past months, the young fiction world has stopped and everybody has turned their heads to the brand new book by J.K Rowling: Harry Potter, and the cursed child. This book, after years of waiting, has become the newest addition to the Harry Potter series and now we, the fans, get a new glimpse into the lives of our childhood idols. This new book, unfortunately will not be accompanied by a new movie as J.K. Rowling confirmed herself. Of course, there are rumors and people talk so hopefully a movie would eventually be released, but for now there is currently a stage play showing in London, England; the birthplace of this magical story.

So with high spirits, in honor of this great gift, I decided to sort the faculties of La IUPI to the different houses available at Hogwarts. To do this, a couple of students from different faculties (Law, Social Sciences, Public Communications, Business Administration, Natural Science, Architecture, Humanities, General Studies and Education) were asked to describe the students at campus and try to classify them into the houses.

Along with the students’ opinions, there is some basic information about the houses; we all know there are four: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Gryffindor students are courageous, chivalrous and determined while Slytherin students are cunning, resourceful and ambitious. Ravenclaw students are clever, witty, and creative and then Hufflepuff students are dedicated, patient and loyal.

Based on the information I gathered, and the common characteristics of each house, the faculties were sorted as follows:

In Gryffindor, we have Social Science and Law

In Slytherin, Public Communications and Business Administration

In Ravenclaw, we have Natural Science and Architecture

In Hufflepuff, we have Humanities, General Studies, and Education

During the survey part of my research, some students right away declared that Law belonged to Gryffindor, of course, this was a dead giveaway since Law students “do the right thing” and defend justice. Along with Law, Social Sciences were placed in this house because this faculty generally stands for social justice. Other individuals determined that the most peaceful and calm faculties should be sorted into Hufflepuff, this is why Humanities, General Studies and Education were sorted into the yellow and black colored house. Next was Slytherin, which houses the most ambitious faculties, Public Communications and Business Administration whom commonly strive for power. Lastly but not least Ravenclaw, which are (according to the official Harry Potter webpage, Pottermore) the intellectuals and inventors of the wizard world are perfectly represented by the Natural Science and Architecture faculties.

We now have the privilege to say we have been sorted out and that we finally belong to the wizarding world!
