Cute Campus Couple: Paula I. S. Diaz & Richard G. Amaury

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

The gifts and chocolate boxes have already invaded any commercial pharmacy, supermarket or convenience store, so we all know what that means… It’s February. Remembering that this month celebrates Valentine’s Day, we decided to acknowledge those wonderful, diverse couples that are in the Río Piedras campus, be it queer, interracial, love at first sight with a book at The Bookmark, we love them all! Therefore, we hope you enjoy a few Cute Campus Couples within the upcoming days!

The first couple we interviewed was a pair of eyeglass wearing goofs who answered our questions between bashful laughs and big smiles. They definitely made us aw! <3

Cute Campus Couple

Paula I. S. Diaz & Richard G. Amaury

How’d you two meet?

PD: We met because we went to the same high school. He graduated when I was admitted. I became his best friend’s best friend.

She looks at him.

Right?

RA: Yes.

How long have you been together?

PD: Two years and a half.

What was the first thing you noticed about each other?

PD: His beard!

They both laugh a lot at this.

RA: Honestly, the first thing is that she used glasses.

What makes your relationship work?

RA: We talk a lot, like communicate.

PD: We both love dogs a lot, and The Office.

RA: Yes!

One word to describe your partner.

PD: Goofy.

They laugh a lot more.

RA: She pushes me to work harder every day

PD: It’s just one word.

She says with a wide smile.

RA: I don’t know a word for that

PD: Motivating.

RA: Yeah! Motivating.

Cute, right? Stay tuned for our other thirteen couples!

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Josie is a senior in the UPR-Río Piedras campus, majoring in English Literature. When she's not on campus, you can find her browsing a bookstore (as if her TBR pile isn't big enough already!). Books and writing are what drives this girl--apart from fighting to destigmatize mental illnesses and raising awareness about the importance of consent. Josie enjoys traveling, bingeing on spicy food and a lot of sweets, blasting Bieber, and adding shows or movies to her Netflix queue that she'll never get to. Josie is a junior editor for the Rio Piedras chapter in Puerto Rico. If you want to see what else Josie is up to, you can catch her on her bookstagram.
Antoinette Luna is a Performance Studies and Comparative Literature major at the UPR. Her passions include writing, reading, and anything crafty. She loves to sew, write, and make things from scratch. DIY is the name of her game. Around campus, she is known as a bubbly young woman who goes by just Luna. Her future goals include traveling, traveling, and more traveling. Outspoken transfeminist, and wannabe activist, she's out to set fires.
