Campus Profile: Andrea Yusif

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

You can always find her around the Naturales faculty, hanging out with the people of the Student Council. Andrea is a refreshing person, different from what we are used to, nowadays. She is the girl next door to many, but don’t let her looks fool ya! She has the audicity and the brains to leave you speechless with the things that she plans to do with her life. Could you believe she’s a math major? (which is amazing!) A girl with a love for politics, fashion, and fun, brilliant conversations. She’s down to earth, cunning, and has the prettiest genuine smile I’ve seen in a while. Meet this week’s Campus Profile, Andrea Yusif.

Name: Andrea Yusif Rodriguez

Age: 20

Major: Mathematics

Relationship Status: Single

Classification: Sophomore, due to the fact that she transfered.

Hobbies: Going to the beach, Travel

Hometown: San Juan

1. HCUPR: Tell me about yourself:

Andrea: First of all, I’m a math major. I enjoy studying, reading, and talking to people that have interesting topics. I’m a total flirt, I love dogs (I have 2, and a rabbit whose name is Biscuit, haha!), the beach, going out with my friends, politics and coffee.

2. HCUPR: What are your goals?

Andrea: I’m planning on changing my major, most likely to Interdisciplinary Studies, because when I graduate I hope to go to Med School and specialize in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. I also want to do research.

3. HCUPR: Something not many people know about you?

Andrea: I can lick my elbow. (She then proceeded to lick her elbow)

4. HCUPR: Favorite quote and why?

Andrea: “The best way to predict the future is to create it yourself.” It’s about being able to achieve your goals, if you really want something to happen, you do whatever it takes to make it come true.

5. HCUPR: What is your ideal date + Partner?

Andrea: For the date, I hate the movies, I would go to a place like Old San Juan.  Somewhere you will be able to sit and go out to eat. As for the partner, someone who has smart things to say, who is genuine and honest. A person who is outgoing and loves to laugh and is very down to Earth and doesn’t brag about himself. Kinda tall guys with dark eyes and hair are my weakness.

6. HCUPR: If you could do anything without getting caught, what would it be?

Andrea: Don’t laugh! But I’d most likely do a mega shopping spree, I’d go to a fancy restaurant and dress real nicely with the things I bought, haha!

7. HCUPR: Who is your role model and why?

Andrea: My sister. She’s really smart, pretty, and nice. She’s literally the whole package. She majors both in Biology and Psychology and also does research.

8. HCUPR: Do you do any extracurricular activities?

Andrea: I’m currently working in 2 Labs. They are very interesting. Both of them are about Behaviour in Neuroscience. The difference is that one is about bees, and the other one is about rats.

9. HCUPR: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Andrea: Hopefully, I’ll be working in a hospital, finishing my specialization in the States, in centers that have to do with reconstructive surgery. There is one in New York that I really like. I want to work with people that have gone through severe traumas.

10. HCUPR: Describe yourself in 3 words:

Andrea: Honest, Outgoing, and Determined.
