Campus Cutie: Yosef Torres

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.
We don’t know if it is his hair, his mysterious aura or his quietness that make this fella quite the intriguing individual. He’s artistic, he’s cool, and he’s funny… No, seriously, he’s hilarious, especially when he’s playing Cards Against Humanity.
Name: Yosef Torres Gonzalez
Age: 18
Major: Sociology
Classification: Freshman
Relationship Status: In a relationship
Hometown: San Juan, but currently lives in Caguas

HCUPR: Coming from a high school that was especialized in arts (Central High School), why art? What inspires you?

Yosef: To do art? Well, other people are my motivation. I try my best to make other people happy, so art is a curious and unusual way to do it.

HCUPR: You want to double major in Physics. Why two things that are completely different?

Yosef: Honestly, because both things are what I enjoy the most and I couldn’t decide. Both are so complex in their own way, I guess that’s what I like about them.

HCUPR: You’ve done community service. Tell us about that.

Yosef: I went on a missionary trip to Haiti and I have done community service in several places here in Puerto Rico. Individually, sometimes I buy food for the homeless or just go and talk to people. I look forward to do more of those activities here on campus.

This picture, taken from Yosef’s Facebook, has a caption: “This is Jeff. Jeff is from the “hunger region” here. He told me he wanted to travel to help other people, to change the world. Be like Jeff.”

HCUPR: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

YosefI honestly don’t know. But my guess is that I’ll be married and studying in Oxford or a place like that.

HCUPR: What’s your ideal date? And your ideal partner?

Well, I’m pretty much grateful for what I have now. My girlfriend pretty much understands me and we get along really well. She is lovely and pretty so if you really want to know well how is my ideal partner you should interview her, too. She’s cuter than I am, hint hint.

HCUPR: What’s something not many people know about you?

Yosef: Well, I think that many people don’t know that I’m a Christian. I love Physics and Sociology and I’m a Christian. Otherwise, not many people know how to pronounce my name. I love my name.

HCUPR: If there’s any historical figure you’d want to meet, who would it be and why?

Yosef: I would meet Kim Karshasian. Ha! I’m joking. I would want to meet C.S. Lewis and Albert Einstein. They made remarkable comments about imagination that I enjoy a lot. I would also want to meet Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

HCUPR: Who is your role model and why?

Yosef: Role model? Well, I honestly don’t know. I would be as humble as my mom, as intense as Jesus and as responsible as my girlfriend.

HCUPR: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Yosef: Curious. Spontaneous. Caring.
