Ahh, it’s finally Thursday. We can all feel the sudden relief of the incoming weekend. I know that every student on campus can relate to this feeling because we all agree on TGIT.

Our Thursdays can be pretty overwhelming because there are many places to choose from to go out at night! Some students choose to get away from the campus, while others prefer to stay and cross the street to Avenida Universidad or better known as “Rio”.

I feel that a thirsty Thursday in Rio is just the ticket. The cheap bars offer good food and awesome happy hours. So, no wonder a lot of people choose this hanging spot on Thursdays…

My favorite pick is “Ocho de Blanco”, the most frequented bar in Rio! Their happy hours are great, especially if you’re on a budget. You can get drinks for less than $5. Not to mention their location that has billiards, a cool terrace and a third floor rooftop! I think this place has turned into a legendary bar for all the students at the UPR.

Also, if you are looking for a restaurant with good Puertorrican food and great happy hours, I recommend you go to “Viddy’s”. Their variety on the menu is pretty amazing and the food is extremely affordable! “Arroz and habichuelas”-nothing beats that! Oh, and if you’re the kind of collegiette that likes to sing your heart out on Thursdays, then stay tuned for Viddy’s karaoke nights.

Monday through Wednesdays can be the slowest days for these places, but you know, bars located near a university campus never get too slow! Nightlife in Puerto Rico can be wild and exciting because there a lot of places choose from, but if you are on campus you know that there’s no way you can say no to Rio!
